Scisoft 7.0 for Linux is now available for download

Scisoft is a project within ESO to provide a collection of astronomical software utilities in a uniform way at all four ESO sites and to make them available to the outside world. The current version, Scisoft 7, June 2007, is only available for Fedora Core 6 Linux. The previous version, Scisoft v6.1 September 2006, was for Fedora Core 3, Scisoft v5 was available for RedHat9 and earlier versions are also available for Solaris 8, Linux Redhat 6.2 and HP-UX 11.

LAMOST User’s Forum Opened

The LAMOST Users website, an internet forum for the astronomical community, is opened now. Visitors may read all the articles with related comments, and post your own comments, suggestions or questions as well. The forum topics may range from hardware to software, and from instrumentation to science. Welcome to our forum http://www.lamost.org/users/. HiRes website opened

The HiRes project is one part of the LAMOST project undertaken by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. HiRes will add one high resolution channel to the 4000 low resolution spectrographs of the LAMOST Schmidt telescope.

The LAMOST HiRes homepage is online now. We will publish the newest information about HiRes here and keep this web page up to date as the project proceeds.

LAMOST Mirror for ESO Scisoft

Scisoft is a project within ESO to provide a collection of astronomical software utilities, mostly public domain tools developed outside ESO, in a uniform way at all four ESO sites. The current version, Scisoft VI April 2006, is only available for Fedora Core 3 Linux.

Catalogue query interface for thousands of catalogs

CatsQuery, a query interface for thousands of catalogs archived at WDC-Astronomy is provided at the website. Using the query interface, you can locate catalogues that include specified keywords in their "Title", "Authors", "Description", "Columns", etc.

New website logo

At the upper-left corner, you will find the new logo of the website, which is designed by Prof. Gang WANG, engineering division, LAMOST. The meaning of the logo is as followings:

  • O: Mirror MB is merged by 37 sub-mirrors.
  • T: Mirror MA is merged by 24 sub-mirrors.
  • S: 4000 fibers are represented by 4 lines.
  • La, M: A spectrum is divided by LAMOST spectrographs into red and blue two parts.
